Volunteer Work: Lending a Helping Hand

October 1, 2011

In an effort to help Omaha’s forestry department cope with storm damage, Wright Tree Service employees recently took time to volunteer their time and equipment to provide maintenance on the park’s tree population. Elmwood Park in Omaha, Neb., is one of the city’s premier outdoor recreational spots, but summer storms left damaged trees that were a hazard to the public.

Central Division spent two consecutive Fridays in September helping out. Omaha’s city forester sponsored the volunteer project, and after the work was done, the city planted new oaks in the park.

Workplanner Kyle Maupin championed the initiative, with help from Workplanner Michael Parker, Foremen Juan Valdovinos, Pedro Cepeda, Omar Cisneros, Hector Armendariz, and Marcos Valdivia; and Trimmers Luis Hernandez, Adan Lopez, Victor Rodriguez, Jorge Gomez, Tom Anderson, Gabriel Lopez, Pedro Elizondo and John Bernal. All of the men report to General Foreman William McDowall.
